Purpose:
The purpose of this financial award is to provide financial assistance to KCOM students exhibiting emergency need for expenses related to a personal crisis.

Amount:
When the endowment is funded ($10,000), the amount available each year for financial assistance will be dependent upon the endowment fund principal total and performance of the fund’s investments. Current College policy directs that eighty percent (80%) of the annual interest earnings from the fund principal will be made available for financial grant(s) to student(s). Twenty percent (20%) of the annual interest earnings will be reinvested into the fund principal. This allows the fund to grow, thus producing increased financial support in future years and adjusting for inflation.

The Vice President of Student and Alumni Services will determine the number of and amount of invidual grants to be distributed annually, based on the annual endowment income.

Selection Criteria:
A. Recipient(s) of the grant must be duly enrolled at KCOM in the year in which the award is made.
B. Grants will be awarded to students who have personal emergency situations such as death in the family/friends, automobile accidents, or personal loss due to fire, tornado, or natural disasters. Grant awards will not be limited to examples cited. Students will provide a verbal request for financial assistance to the Vice President of Student and Alumni Services.

How Awarded:
A. The grant will be awarded upon the discretion of the Vice President for Student and Alumni Services. Before rejecting a student request for emergency financial assistance, the Vice President for Student and Alumni Services must consult with a least one memeber of the Student Government Association Executive Committee.
B. The student recipient(s) shall provide receipts (or copies of receips) of expenditures to the Vice President of Student and Alumni Services.
